July 14, 2026—Industry experts have noted that credit unions are now operating in a more dynamic environment shaped by shifting rate expectations, evolving deposit behavior, and increased balance sheet sensitivity. As we shared in a recent blog post on Callahan & Associates’ Trendwatch Q1 2026 report, as these economic conditions continue to adjust, consumers are rethinking how they borrow, save, and manage liquidity—prompting their financial institutions to revisit their lending and funding strategies and offerings.
Maintaining a strong balance sheet requires a more deliberate approach than it has in the past. Loan portfolios remain a primary driver of earnings, but they also introduce interest rate and credit risk factors that must be actively managed. Aligning asset liability management (ALM) strategies with changing member behavior is essential for both protecting margins and supporting long-term stability and growth.
Your ALM expertise grows here
EasCorp’s annual ALM Academy equips participants with the insight needed to make informed balance sheet decisions in a changing market. Staff and Board members of EasCorp’s member credit unions are invited to attend this two-day professional development conference presented in partnership with ALM First.
Two days of insight into today’s credit unions balance sheets
This year’s Academy will focus on strengthening the connection between economic trends and day-to-day financial decision-making. Participants will gain practical tools to evaluate risk, respond to market shifts, and identify opportunities within their balance sheets.
Two tracks—introductory track and an intermediate/advanced track—are offered. The introductory course introduces fundamental ALM concepts, while the intermediate/advanced course goes deeper into ALM strategy and practice. Both tracks include sessions on key topics such as liquidity management, stress testing, and financial modeling. The tracks come together for sessions on the regulatory landscape and current economic outlook.
Whether building foundational knowledge or refining more advanced capabilities, attendees will leave with actionable strategies to support more confident decision-making and stronger institutional performance.
