October 16, 2025—Today is International Credit Union (ICU) Day, a day to reflect on the history and achievements of the global credit union movement. This year, celebrations center around the theme “Cooperation for a Prosperous World.” The World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) and Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions (WFCU) provide credit unions collateral to support their ICU Day campaigns and celebrations on the ICU Day website.

Credit unions are people-centered and committed to the long-term financial success of their members and their communities. In 1909, credit union movement began in the United States in Boston, Massachusetts, a city that for nearly 400 years has stood for representation and democratic ideals.
