Influential Industry Advocate to Speak at Annual Meeting

February 11, 2025—We are excited to announce that John McKechnie, a renowned credit union advocate and lobbyist, will deliver a state-of-the-industry report at EasCorp’s Annual Meeting and Membership Conference. McKechnie has been a prominent figure on Capitol Hill for many years, representing the interests of credit unions and educating audiences on a wide array of policy initiatives to Congressional leadership, federal agencies, and trade associations.

He began his career in the industry with a role at CUNA in the late 1980s. Later, he joined NCUA, where he advocated, among many other issues, to expand the Central Liquidity Fund’s ability to distribute liquidity following the 2008-2009 mortgage collapse. Over the next three decades, McKechnie built a distinguished career in both the public and private sectors. He has consistently spoken out in favor of the more conservative business practices of credit unions, which he believes ensure financial stability and better serve consumers. McKechnie has been a key figure in policy making on issues such as membership legislation, bankruptcy abuse prevention, third-party vendor authority, cybersecurity, loan participation, climate impact, the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau, and more.

At our Annual Meeting and Membership Conference on April 15, 2025, McKechnie will offer an update on the policy focus of the current administration as it relates to the credit union industry as well as the activities of the NCUA and other federal agencies. He will also take the audience’s questions on all matters of industry importance. Officials of EasCorp’s member credit unions are invited to register now for the event!
